If you are a fan of the mobile food phenomenon I’m sure that you’ve come across the Schnitzel & Things Food Truck. What Schnitzel & Things churns out from that tiny space inside that truck is quite impressive. The truck has been a contender and crowd favorite at the Vendy’s –the annual Food Truck awards event held on Governor’s Island in New York. Therefore, imagine what they can do now that they have a physical location in our very own Midtown East! The new Schnitzel & Things storefront is located on Third avenue between 45th and 44th street, right across from the new German beer hall, Bierhaus. Looks like we are getting our very own mini-Germany/Austria/Europe in Midtown East!
If you’ve never had schnitzel, it’s a traditional Austrian delicacy consisting of a thinly pounded cut of veal or pork which is then breaded and fried… and it’s delicious. There’s actually quite a long history regarding the dish. It’s beyond the scope of this blog post but for the uber-curious amongst you, check out the wikipedia page on Schnitzel.
